ADDITIONAL IED INDICATORS AND GROUND SIGNS RECORDED DURING IED CLEARANCE ACTIVITIES
Image 85. Image showing the sign in detail. Note the wire protruding from the corner
When the MA searcher / deminer is 4–5 m from the sign that was originally reported at the south-eastern corner, it is interpreted as follows: • A wire projecting from above the corner junction of the wall by approximately 100 mm. This is assessed to be the receiver element of an RCIED. There is also a potential wire running down the wall. This is identified by colour change (red). • A linear area of disturbance running from the corner into the road. Assessed to be an electrical link. • The circular disturbance on the route is assessed to conceal the IED’s main charge.
