Victim Operated. A type of switch designed to be initiated by a victim’s presence, proximity, contact or activity causing a device to function that may injure or kill one or more persons. Specific points where it is particularly advantageous for an aggressor to position an ambush, using either IEDs, SALW, or both. VPs are typically characterized by prominent or restrictive feature or choke point on the ground.
