STRATEGIC PLANNING IN MINE ACTION
ADAPTATIONS Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lao PDR cancelled planned activities, while collaboration with Sri Lanka was postponed until 2021. The Angolan government’s formal approval of their national strategy (GICHD-supported in 2019) is expected to take place in 2021.
colleagues with thematic expertise from the GICHD as well as from the APMBC ISU. Following requests from NMAAs, the GICHD also supported South Sudan in conducting a mid-term review of their 2018–2021 strategy, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) with developing DRC’s APMBC Article 5 completion plan. At the end of 2020, the GICHD also started collaborating with Iraq and agreed on a timeline and methodology for strategic planning collaboration in 2021.
Continuing its long-term collaboration with GFFO, the GICHD conducted a mid-term review of GFFO’s humanitarian mine action strategy 2019–2021, through a consultative process with GFFO’s partners, and a context analysis workshop with GFFO staff. The GICHD also supported Afghanistan with assessing its 2016–2021 strategy and facilitating an online strategy stakeholder workshop with Afghan stakeholders in Kabul.
