ADAPTATIONS The COVID-19 travel restrictions impacted the delivery of IMSMA training courses. In an effort to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on its overall project implementation, the GICHD adjusted its planning to develop an e-learning training package.

The training course was designed based on IMAS 05.10 and IMAS 06.10 and aimed at enhancing mine actors’ information management capacity and ability to administer IMSMA, ultimately equipping them with the knowledge and skills to effectively run information management systems and services.
The high turnover of IM staff working in the mine action sector results in knowledge and skills gaps, and creates a constant need for training of IM staff, implementing partners and other actors, especially on IMSMA Core, a newly developed tool. The GICHD provides IM capacity development support, including the provision of training courses, to mine-affected countries. In 2020, the GICHD was able to deliver, under its broader information
