FIELD SUPPORT
States and other partners use quality information to support their programming and operational management IMMEDIATE OUTCOME 3
UNMAS IMSMA CORE IMPLEMENTATION
ADAPTATIONS Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, operations were suspended or reduced throughout 2020 in some UNMAS programmes. This impacted the delivery of the IMS, in particular where local information management resources were reduced, or the suspension of operations prevented testing and training.
with this project’s implementation in almost all UNMAS programmes. The introduction of additional tools from GeoCortex and increased resourcing with UNOPS’s information management and analysis team allowed the implementation to accelerate, despite the impact of COVID-19. The adoption in 2020 of the UNMAS minimum data requirements, which are used in collecting data across all UNMAS programmes, has also enabled analysis and reporting to take place at the global level, providing UNMAS with a global overview of activities.
Thanks to its strategic partnership with ESRI through the IMSMA Core project, and its experience in mine action, the GICHD is in a unique position to support UNMAS. The objective of this project is to harness the potential of IM through an integrated and standardised IM solution for UNMAS programmes, with flexible workflows that account for unique programme needs and mandates. This enables UNMAS to focus on outcomes rather than outputs, ensuring that priorities drive task setting. In 2020, the GICHD moved forward
