TRAINING DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY

ADAPTATIONS In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the delivery of several scheduled training courses. The GICHD’s strong relationship with its partners, NMAAs and mine action operators enabled it to overcome a range of practical difficulties relating to updating content, exploring alternative tools and designing virtual exercises. The GICHD will continue learning and adapting to deliver more of its in-person training courses remotely, where relevant.

Challenged by the changing global health context, the GICHD successfully adapted its in-person training to online training methodologies and to deliver the following training courses remotely: technical survey (in Afghanistan), quality management (in SEA) and operational efficiency (in Ukraine).

The GICHD is committed to enabling its partners to respond to their own needs, and ultimately help build sustainable and nationally owned training capacities through the transfer of knowledge and skills. Therefore, in 2020 the GICHD delivered four in-person training courses on NTS (in Afghanistan), operations analysis (in Colombia), quality management (in the MENA region, via the GICHD ARCP) and accident investigation (in Switzerland).
