resource for mine action practitioners in their daily work. Following its success, the GICHD continues to maintain and update CORD. The development of the technical simulator (TSIM) tool, which allows the simulation of hazardous areas on a computer screen, was completed in 2020 with the integration of a mapping software. TSIM can be used online and was trialled during the technical survey training course in Afghanistan in December 2020. Finally, through a joint effort between the GICHD and its partners (NGOs, APOPO and CMAC), a new demining
The GICHD supports land release and explosive ordnance disposal operations globally, by providing mine action practitioners with access to relevant tools to collect accurate and timely technical information, enabling them to learn about technological solutions and increasing their efficiency through newly developed equipment. The Collaborative ORDnance Data Repository (CORD) provides reliable online technical data on explosive ordnance, which can be accessed via a mobile application. CORD has become a trusted and highly used
ADAPTATIONS Most of this project’s outcomes were successfully delivered due to the online nature of its activities. To mitigate the impact of COVID-19, the GICHD adjusted its plan from developing an operations room to delivering an operations analyst training course (Colombia).
