ARAB REGIONAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME (ARCP)

ADAPTATIONS The unforeseen pandemic hampered progress with the GICHD’s training outcomes due to travel restrictions. To mitigate this impact, the GICHD swiftly adjusted its regional training course on quality management to successful online delivery. The GICHD’s strong relationship with its partners and NMAAs enabled it to successfully adapt its training course on gender equality and inclusion in this way, and this will continue in 2021.

Mauritania, Somalia, and Sudan) on how to implement a project cycle for better results. The GICHD initiated an online training course on how to mainstream gender and diversity in programme activities (12 participants from Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, and Sudan). Towards its objective of disseminating knowledge, the ARCP supported the translation and revision into Arabic of the GICHD’s e-learning gender and diversity training course, 14 new IMAS, TNMA and T&EP chapters and ‘Guidance on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse’.

Cooperation among affected countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is valuable in addressing challenges in mine action. During the annual UN National Directors’ Meeting (NDM-23), the GICHD convened a regional group where ARCP beneficiary representatives reiterated the importance of the ARCP as a platform for cooperation. In 2020, the GICHD continued to foster dialogue and facilitate the technical exchange and dissemination of good practice in mine action. This was achieved by conducting a regional quality management training course (14 participants from Iraq, Lebanon, Libya,
