Research and generating knowledge aim to fill the gaps in the mine action sector’s understanding of, and approach to, gender and diversity. To this end, the GICHD’s ‘Guidance on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse’ was translated into Arabic and Russian and its study ‘The Socioeconomic Impact of Employing Female Deminers in Sri Lanka’ was originally published in English and also translated into Sinhala and Tamil. The latter highlights how employment has improved female and male deminers’ access to resources and services and contributed to transforming female deminers’ decision- making capacities and self-perception.
