IMAS DEVELOPMENT AND OUTREACH
of outreach, the GICHD is developing an e-learning module to support the dissemination of common understanding on IMAS in the mine action sector, targeting a wide and diverse audience. ADAPTATIONS The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the GICHD’s activities around research and outreach where travel was essential. Learning from this challenge, the GICHD continues to innovate through online work.
Based on a mandate conferred by the IMAS RB, the GICHD developed the TNMA on all reasonable effort (ARE), to support mine action organisations and NMAAs, and to provide specific and contextual guidance on its application in land release processes. The GICHD’s IMAS outreach and training activities are essential to enhance the mine action sector’s knowledge of the IMAS framework. In 2020, the GICHD held its first online PfP course on IMAS and Compliance, attended by 20 participants, from 13 countries and 16 organisations. Adapting to newer means
The GICHD supports the IMAS series and framework, ensuring their global applicability and providing further outreach and training on the latest IMAS developments. In 2020, in collaboration with GICHD advisors (IMAS secretariat, NMAS development assistance, IM, Strategic Planning, GMAP), the GICHD developed and reviewed 8 IMAS adopted by the IMAS Review Board (IMAS 04.10, IMAS 05.10 (including Annex B), IMAS 07.31, IMAS 09.41, IMAS 10.40, IMAS 10.60, IMAS 12.10, TNMA 07.14/01). Guidance on IMAS 07.31 and 09.41 was also developed.
