MINE ACTION AND THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGS)
ADAPTATIONS Adapting to non-traditional channels (the cloud and exchanges via Skype video calls and virtual meetings) has proved to be an efficient way to mitigate the pandemic’s impact on planned activities. When virtual means proved ineffective, the GICHD relied on national experts to carry out in-person activities.
partnerships and cooperation towards the principle of ‘leaving no one behind’. In relation to NMAAs and other partners adopting or updating SDG-sensitive mine action frameworks, the GICHD supported the strategic planning process in Afghanistan and developed two case studies on the integration of mine action into national SDG frameworks, in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Lao PDR. In 2020, the Centre strengthened the evidence base on the impact and direct contribution of mine action to the SDGs through the study, The Sustainable Development Outcomes of Mine Action in Jordan. The study analyses the impact of land release and ongoing efforts on victim assistance, EORE, gender mainstreaming, and
