More specifically, this analysis aimed to identify a potential role for the Centre that would be compatible with, and complementary to, work already conducted by other organisations. The results of the study will feed into the review of the GICHD Strategy for the period after 2022.
With its 2019–2022 Strategy, the GICHD revised its vision and mission towards reducing risks to communities stemming from explosive ordnance, with a particular focus on mines, cluster munitions, other explosive remnants of war and ammunition storage. As a result, the GICHD reinforced its technical capacities in the safe and secure management of ammunition, with a view to being able to assist beneficiary states in devising more comprehensive responses to complex and multifaceted challenges.
