Building capacities and facilitating peer learning on gender, diversity, equality and inclusion with partners’ increases the impact of mine action on women, girls, boys and men. The resilience of affected communities is further strengthened by raising the profile of EORE. ACHIEVEMENTS In 2022, the GICHD contributed to disseminating knowledge of GD-responsive mine action through two studies, including the release of all-women demining team testimonials (see page 6). Knowledge dissemination was boosted through the launch of e-learning courses (see page 6) and the delivery of the inclusive leadership course in Iraq. The GICHD also adapted the GFP capacity-development programme for delivery online using BlackBoard. Participants of the online GFP course applied their new knowledge and skills to conduct gender and diversity analysis in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, South Sudan, Vietnam and Yemen. This, in combination with ongoing technical support for the development and revision of the IMAS and for strategic planning in Iraq and Sri Lanka, resulted in improvements in GD mainstreaming capacity. A monitoring visit was conducted in Cambodia, while assessments were conducted in Armenia and Yemen to identify needs and inform future activities.

The Centre continued to bring EORE to the fore in multilateral forums (such as those for the APMBC and CCM) and to encourage increased commitments to and resources for EORE. GICHD support to the EORE Advisory Group (both as its Secretariat and a core member) in the design and implementation of its 2021–2022 workplan contributed to maintaining the momentum gained and facilitating partners’ access to effective EORE methods, tools and approaches. Finally, further efforts resulted in the organisation of the first ever digital global EORE workshop in cooperation with UNICEF and a regional workshop under the Arab RCP. LESSONS LEARNT T When research responds to an identified gap in knowledge or guidance, the reports quickly become a reference in the sector (see page 6). T Close cooperation internally remains essential for the promotion of GD mainstreaming and EORE in global agendas.
