GENDER AND DIVERSITY ANNUAL REPORT 2022
The GICHD is of the firm conviction that people, no matter who they are, should enjoy the same rights, opportunities and protection. In every country around the world, however, people’s lives are shaped by their identities, relationships and social factors. These elements combine to create interconnected forms of privilege and oppression, which, when combined with discrimination, on the basis of age, gender, ethnic or racial group, disability status, sexual orientation, migratory status or
other factors, create situations in which some people face less challenges in exercising their rights or have access to greater opportunities than others. The GICHD strives to promote gender equality, diversity and inclusion in its work. One way in which it does this is by increasing the representation of people from diverse backgrounds and of diverse identities in GICHD-organised events. This helps to ensure
that they are actively involved in identifying solutions to the problems caused by EO. The promotion of diverse representation in GICHD-organised events also contributes to global frameworks such as SDGs, in particular SDG 5, SDG 10, and also UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
Below is an overview of the attendance at events organised by the GICHD in 2022.
